Nowadays, we are frequently exposed to foods that have chemicals and this can cause permanent damage to the livers and the digestive system. Though the body has its own way of removing waste through the urine, feces, and sweating, the cleansing system can sometimes become overwhelmed with waste and the process of expelling will slow down.
WHAT KIND OF TOXINS ARE THERE?
Toxins can be water and fat soluble. The former ones are expelled through the blood and kidneys whereas the latter ones are more difficult to be eliminated and they usually need to be turned into water-soluble toxins to be removed. The latter ones are pesticides, heavy metals, preservatives, plastics, food additives, pollutants, and environmental compounds.
THE BODY’S DETOX SYSTEM
According to researchers, healthy digestion, low levels of stress, and proper detox methods can avert the piling up of toxins and additional damage. During digestion of food, the nutritional and toxic fats are mixed up from the stomach to the small intestine. In the small intestine, the liver and gallbladder will emulsify them while the lacteals and the small villi will help in cleansing the gut and aiding the absorption of fat and will also speed up the movement of the toxins to the liver for processing.
However, if this pathway is somehow damaged, the removal of toxins will be impeded. When the lymphatic system is congested, the usage of good and the removal of bad fat can be negatively affected.
SYMPTOMS OF CLOGGED GALT (GUT ASSOCIATED LYMPHATIC TISSUE)
- Belly weight
- Stiff joints
- Swollen breasts
- Irritated and itchy skin
- Swollen hands and feet
WHAT CAN DAMAGE THE LIVER?
- Daily exposure to stress
- Too much coffee
- Soda drinks
- High levels of acidity in the body
- Consumption of processed foods
- Eating foods that contain additives
THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BILE
Bile flow is pivotal as it encourages the proper digestion of fat. This liquid has the capacity to break down bad bacteria, parasites, chemicals, pesticides, as well as heavy metals. When we consume too much fiber, large amounts of fiber will be eliminated through the stool. In case of lack of fiber, around 94 percent of bile will be reabsorbed by the liver for recycling, including toxins. This is when the liver becomes overburdened as it does not expect toxic fat cells to go back into it. As a result, it becomes clogged and the bile thickens and it cannot break down the fat-soluble toxins.
THE SYMPTOMS OF BILE FLOW ISSUES
- Loose stool
- Mucus in the bowel
- Heaviness in the stomach
- Pain after meals
- Feeling nauseous after meals
FOODS THAT CAN CLEANSE THE LIVER
- Green tea
- Green leafy veggies
- Olive oil
- Cruciferous veggies
- Grain alternatives
